The reception staff were very welcoming and helpful. The spa was excellent too.

The breakfast was served quite hurriedly, considering that we had baby.

  • Older travelers

Excellent staff in restaurant - in particular j j who was a student undertaking work experience. Expensive fittings in the bathroom not in full working order. Asked for quiet room - party in progress beneath bedroom window on third night. Meat served at dinner which was inedible - could not cut or chew!! - so did not eat in- house again in a three- night stay.

Excellent and very impressive Hotel both outside and inside with great attention to detail during the refurb back in 2006. Quality furnishings used throughout, I saw some negative feedback, but some people must need to find something negative. Walls are a bit thin and you do hear the next room comign and going. This hotel was great, breakfast was brill, full english, 3 orange juices, tea and toast, what else do you need? Spa was excellent, water warm and steam room fab, grounds were well manicured and quiet. I have stayed at Chewton Glen, Stapleford Park, Shrigley Hall etc, and this is on par with them easily. Will be back.

  • Couple

Everything, the Hall and grounds are beautiful, but teh service and staff just add to the quality.

  • Older travelers

Nice setting, nice staff, excellent price.

  • Couple

Staff were very helpful and accommodating. The hotel itself was easy enough to find despite its relative remoteness. Amazing scenery and backdrop. Great spa facilities. Definitely recommend the afternoon tea, but book early as this was very popular.

  • Older travelers

    Peceful, beautiful, relaxing

The silly taps in the bathroom which you can't get hold of when you have soap on yur hands. The pop up waste in the basin does not hold water in the basin and drains away too quickly to have a wash.

The staff were lovely, very smiley and kind. The room was lovely also.

  • Older travelers

l loved the hotel building. It was like staying in a stately home. The grounds were beautiful and the spa was very nice.

While we loved the downstairs of the hotel and the corridors we thought the bedroom was a diasappointing let down. The decor was a bit tired and the bed was one of those that you rolled into the middle. Didn't have a problem with the fact it was small but there was no imagination put into it. Have stayed in nicer B & B's for less.

  • Group of friends

    comfortable bar

long walk to car in rain and the bath in the bedroom! confusing signs to get around, especially the spa

I liked the beautiful buildings and the grounds it would be wonderful for a summer wedding

My entire visit was a disaster. perhaps I was unlucky - patronising receptionists bar one - terrible food I had room service the food was almost inedible no condiments on the tray- continental breakfast was poor very stale looking pastries and croissants.I had a last minute cheaper booking so was expecting a lesser room - which had badly stained carpets, damp cold damp bed with almost no underblanket and very knobbly and uncomfortable the shower drain was blocked one of the power sockets didn't work -light over the basin didn't work - there was a desk but the chair was so low that you to put your work on your knee - in a word don't go! I didn't go to the spa as I was on business trip it was in a separate building.

  • Older travelers

Great staff, good food and excellent historical environemnt

Rooms were a little small and water temperature was too cold

  • Single

Swimming pool is great. Rooms are great.

Okay - small point - tv remotes don't work that well

  • Family with children

Historical impressive building, in a countryside setting. Bedrooms had fantastic size bathrooms. Nice spa.

Staff would benefit from some customer training in the bar and restaurant.

  • Older travelers

The ambience and atmosphere upon arrival . I feel the Hall lies within a beautiful and romantic setting which is absolutely perfect. However I do believe the rate should remain at £80 per room and I understand it is now at circa £135, which takes it out of the price range especially as I stay so frequently
